[eff around] mislabeling your work

Two ideas for you.
-as-well I responded to a Tweet by artist Joshua Vides (and whom I’m helping with Matte Black Coffee licensing deals), that I thought was worth sharing.
He starts:
Below is what I responded with:
My idea is this : Add “-as-well” to the end of your title. We are so much more than the titles we give ourselves, and those given to us.
Not only that, if you’re an entrepreneur or a salesperson, it’s a clever way to:
Pattern-interrupt . It’s not a typical thing they see, and it pulls them out of default (and usually defensive) mode. And
Create an open loop . They’ll be curious what that means and ask you, and that gives you an opportunity to have a conversation on your terms.
Here’s an example:
ME: I’m an franchisee-as-well
PERSON: What does “-as-well” mean?
ME: I’m sure you’ll agree that one title is so limiting, and we’re so much more.
I’m a dad, husband, I work at this nonprofit, I consult for restaurants that want to franchise, I write a newsletter….
What do you do, “-as-well”?
You’ll get a lot further and more color, than the usual conversation.
your REAL side hustle I get so much inspiration on Twitter.
@I____felix____I is an artist I love and follow on Twitter, and I loved how he announced his adventure in creating art for a living in 2022.
I giggled, thought that was clever, and then realized that it was a great way to reframe the idea you can’t ignore. The business you can’t stop thinking about. The art that must exist in the world. The muse that gives you life. The venture that might be the main thing.
Also - as a father and husband, I believe that’s the true and full-time job, anyway. Maybe I’m a full-time family guy, and my side hustles are my companies.
Just some ideas to help you think differently (since how you think is how you take action in the world).
What are you going to re-label?
